Pokemon Go Global Sinnoh Tour!

One of Pokemon Go's largest events of the year - the Global Sinnoh Tour, took place last weekend. I spent a majority of both Saturday and Sunday playing and gained a few new nifty Pokemon. In a complete flip from last year's event, the weather on both days was drizzly and humid. While still uncomfortable, it comes nowhere near the effort 35° heat requires. Lots of sweating either way though. Also unlike last year I stayed at my big local park for the majority of both days and only missed probably three hours or so in total.

Day 1

As per my usual schedule I spent most of the first day of the event simply exploring around and completing research tasks. I brought a friend who had never played before and within 10 minutes he had caught himself two shiny Uxies which was insane. I myself had caught both a shiny Turtwig and Pikachu from my autocatcher on the way there so I wasn't entirely out the game. I completed around thirteen Dialga/Palkia raids throughout the day but didn't end up with any that were shiny or had relevant IVs. I completed a ton of field research tasks thanks to how incredibly easy they were (every single one was power up a certain type 5 times) and netted two shiny Gibles in total from them. In terms of other shinies, my annoyances towards shiny Pikachus continues with another three of the darn things. Caught a full shiny line worth of Turtwig's though which I'm thrilled about. Shiny Turtwig might honestly be up in my top three shinies after having a proper look at it! I also ended up with a perfect Hisiuan Qwilfish which I evolved on the second day after completing the 10 raid requirement. I'm happy with it since I'm pretty sure it's a decent poison type attack (not that the type is useful very often).

My only perfect Pokemon for the event

Day 2

For the second day I decided to focus moreso on the Dialga and Palkia raids as I hadn't gotten anything worthwhile the previous day. In a similar vein to yesterday, I ended up with a shiny Azelf within the first hour or so of the entire day. As opposed to yesterday where I completed 13 legendary raids, today I completed a tad more than double at 27. My luck was definetly on my side today however with a dazzling 5 shinies in total despite the shiny rate being 1/20. Now that I'm thinking about it, this is probably the resulting karma from my atrocious Chansey community day luck (more on that in another post). Oh and to top it off the top two Palkia/Dialga were caught back to back! The stats for the majority were unusually low though and I only got a handful of them with 90%+ IVs. In terms of other shinies I ended up with a Croagunk, Kricketot and Hisuian Qwilfish as my new ones.

Thoughts on the event

I mean in all honesty it was basically the same as last year's Hoenn tour in terms of things going on. The shiny rate felt pretty similar, definitely not up with last year's Global Go Tour event but that's to be expected given the latter cost money. I did enjoy the field research this year as it reset each hour meaning I could complete an absolute ton of them without running dry. I do wish they had more bonuses such as 2x catch XP or similar. The only real bonuses were from the paid hatch/raid research which I did enjoy but a general bonus would've been more useful (still love 30k raid xp though). Another big thing I enjoyed was the abundance of dragon, ice and steel pokemon as they are the last type medals I need to complete, and I got pretty darn close to completing the ice one. Overall I'd say it was still a worthwhile event to attend no matter what goal you'll aiming for since you'll still accomplish some progress on whatever it is.

My best Dialga while also being shiny!

Same stats but not shiny :\
